TEAM STRUCTURE AT ESF
The team structure at ESF allows for different levels of engagement, different roles depending on interest, and cross-communication between the different spaces and teams to strengthen and improve ESF’s work dynamic.
The structure is divided into 3 main divisions, which are further divided into 'spaces' to accomodate all the interests of our ESF members.

OUR DIVISIONS AND SPACES
Team Support & Development
The Team Support & Development is divided into 2 spaces that provide support to all team members.
A) Mentorship Space:
This space is a "support space" for the ESF team. It is responsible for guiding and supporting junior trainees, reporting and sharing the needs and expectations of junior members to ensure they are well supported in their work at ESF and beyond, and reaching out to other ESF members to provide required support for trainees. This space is further divided into mentorship categories such as academic, research and life mentorship.
B) Revision & Consultancy Space:
This space is for revising & editing papers/publications within ESF. It is responsible for revising generated papers regarding content, clarity and linguistics, making editorial changes and assigning a team member to each revision needed based on experience and knowledge.
Research & Initiatives
The Research & Initiatives is divided into 2 spaces that focus on the research activities and opportunities.
A) Project Space:
This space is where the actual research happens after the grant/funding has been secured. Research projects include desk research, surveys, experiments, interviews, data collection & analysis, paper write-ups and publication opportunities. Teams are assembled based on interest and priority.
B) Proposal Space:
This space contains the first stage of any research project - the funding/grant acquisition and proposal write-up. This includes idea generation, brainstorming and exploration. Teams are assembled based on interest and priority.
Core Operations & Management
The Core Operations & Management is responsible for operating and managing the logistical side of ESF.
A) Operational Space:
The operational space is the core team where ESF is managed and operated. This space is divided into 3 committees to ensure smooth operation. The committees include:
1. Social Media & Outreach
2. Internal & External Events
3. Proposals & Opportunities
OUR TEAM DYNAMICS
At ESF, our structure is built to encourage fluid collaboration and clear communication across all divisions & spaces. While each division has its own focus and team, we value interconnectedness — members are encouraged to reach across spaces, share knowledge, and support one another when needed. Whether members are working on operations, engaging in research, or offering mentorship, they're part of a dynamic ecosystem that thrives on responsiveness, openness, and shared purpose.
