Nouran El-Leithy
Nouran Diaa El-Leithy holds a Master of Science in Architectural Engineering from Cairo University (2022), where her thesis focused on “Methodology for Futuristic Zero Carbon Residential Buildings Using Green Nanotechnology Techniques.” She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the same field, having registered in March 2023. She joined the Department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo (AUC) as a Teaching Assistant in 2023, working alongside Dr. Tamer El Khouly in the Digital Representation Tools for Architects and recently became part of the Architectural Design Studio team. Nouran successfully passed the Teaching Assistant Professional Development Series (TAPS) assessment of the AUC modules. She is also a member of the Environmental Sustainability Forum (ESF), working under the supervision of Dr. Sherif Goubran, where she engages in research and initiatives focused on sustainability in architecture. Nouran’s Ph.D. research focuses on “The Architectural and Environmental Approach to Preventing Homelessness,” with a particular emphasis on senior homeless populations and architectural interventions.
Previously, she worked as a Teaching Assistant at El-Shorouk Academy (2017–2022) and Science Valley Academy (2017–2019), where she supported courses in architectural design, working drawings, environmental control, history, architectural theories, and visual and perspective studies. Nouran’s expertise extends to both practical and theoretical domains, offering students comprehensive support and evaluation across multiple disciplines.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Nouran is deeply involved in research and professional development. She participated in the BIM Horizons Workshop at Ain Shams University in December 2024, enhancing her expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM). She also attended the VR (Virtual Reality) in Education workshop at the American University in Cairo (AUC) in October 2024, expanding her knowledge of immersive technologies and their applications in architectural visualization and education. Nouran has completed several professional development workshops at AUC, including “Productivity in the Workplace” for Teaching Assistants, “Inclusive Classroom That Empowers Female Students,” and “Business Innovation Using Human-Centered Design.” She has presented research at multiple international conferences, including the 7th International Conference in Sharm El Sheikh (2021) and the 8th International Conference in Luxor-Aswan (2022). Her work has received significant recognition—she was awarded 1st place in the Habitat for Humanity Egypt competition (2022) and qualified for the 2nd level in the National Smart Green Governorates COP27 competition (2023), where she presented her ideas to the Governor of Damietta.
